A FEW GOOD QUESTIONS

A few things worth knowing
about your new reading copy.

Read the full limitations
What is a PDF portfolio, anyway?

A PDF portfolio is a container that holds separate files inside one PDF. Many browser viewers only show its cover or ask you to open Acrobat. Unfold extracts supported embedded PDFs and supported images and combines their pages into an ordinary PDF you can read and share.
Why your PDF only shows a cover ↗

Can I convert a PDF portfolio without Acrobat?

Yes. For supported, unencrypted portfolios, Unfold reads the embedded files directly in your browser. You can choose the PDFs you need, arrange them, and export one normal PDF without installing Acrobat.
Follow the conversion guide ↗

Are my documents uploaded to a server?

No. File scanning, previews, merging, and ZIP creation run locally in your browser. Your document bytes are not sent to our servers. Clearing the workspace or closing the tab releases the app’s working copies; files you downloaded remain on your device.

What happens to images and other attachments?

Supported JPEG and PNG images can become pages in your reading copy. Other attachments, including Word files and spreadsheets, are listed and preserved in the originals ZIP but are not converted into pages. Review the file list and export report so you know exactly what made it into the merged PDF.
Learn how to extract attachments ↗

Will my digital signatures still be valid?

The merged PDF is a new reading copy. Digital signatures on the original documents do not transfer to it, and Unfold does not verify signature validity. Keep the original portfolio and use the originals ZIP when you need extracted original bytes.

Does it work with every PDF portfolio?

No. Password-protected, malformed, unusually structured, or very large portfolios can be unsupported. Complex forms, annotations, attachments, bookmarks, and interactive features may not survive a page merge. The app reports skipped files; always review the output before relying on it.
